Ecstatic dance is a form of freeform, improvisational dance where people move however their bodies feel called to move, rather than following choreographed steps. The emphasis is on self-expression, mindfulness and connecting with music and your own body.
-We offer a brief opening circle and grounding exercise.
-A DJ set which gradually builds the music from slow and gentle to energetic and then back to calm
-A closing relaxation and sound bath meditation and closing circle
Our guidelines have common guidelines, such as :
-No talking or phones on the dance floor
-No alcohol or recreational drugs.
-Respect others’ personal space and boundaries
-Dance barefoot if possible
People participate for many different reasons, including:
-Stress relief and emotional release
-Exercise without focusing on performance.
-Feeling more connected to themselves and others.
-Exploring creativity through movement.
-Meditation in motion
